  3. The term “Chicken Pox” didn’t come from people believing that they came from chickens, but from an Old English term “gigan pox,” which means the itching pox
  4. A fear of chickens is called Alektorophobia
  5. There are more chickens than people in the world
  6. The chicken is the closest living relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur
  7. The waste produced by one chicken in its lifetime can supply enough electricity to run a 100 watt light bulb for five hours
  8. The longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds
  9. Chickens and Turkeys are known to cross breed, these breeds are known as “Turkins”
  10. If a rooster is not present in a flock of hens, a hen will often take the role of ‘top dog,’ stop laying eggs and begin to crow like a rooster

Well I never knew the chicken was the closest living reltive to a T Rex. How Cool :)

These chicken facts are interesting: I'd like to see them referenced so as to follow up on some of the items. I've also heard that there is a separate on-line foodie blog of things to do with left-over cooked chicken... an intriguing conversation indeed!

I had a chicken that crowed like a rooster and was the mother of the group. This happened after we had roosters but had to give them away.
