Exciting Change Afoot for New World Port Chalmers
New World Port Chalmers is entering an exciting phase amid a
change in management with proud new owner-operators, James and Cath
Flanagan, who are now at the reins of the well-established local
community supermarket.
James has had a successful and extensive 20 year career in the
industry, moving through the ranks to manage numerous supermarkets
around Christchurch including Ferrymead, New Brighton, and Rangiora
since 2001.
The Flanagans, who were both born and raised in Christchurch,
made the move south to Dunedin five years ago, where James took up
the challenge of managing Centre City New World, a position he held
for four years.
Foodstuffs offered the ownership of New World Port Chalmers to
the Flanagans four months ago, a role the duo say they were
delighted to take on.
"Moving into such a huge role can be daunting, but we are up for
the challenge. Over the course of my career with Foodstuffs, I'm
confident that I've gained all the necessary tools and experience
to do well in this role", says James.
"This store has been serving the community exceptionally well
for many years. We are looking forward to continuing the store's
contribution to the community here in Port Chalmers, and becoming
involved in local initiatives by offering our time and
support."
The Flanagans have wasted no time in getting to work and have
begun creating more open spaces in store, a sign they are committed
to further improving their customers' shopping experience.
"It's great to be able to make a positive difference to the
space already, without reducing the range of products we have on
offer," says James.
New World Port Chalmers is located at 63 George St, and is open
Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm.
