Another year, another Garage Project Fresh IPA in the Top 30. The Wellington brewery are the kings of fast turnaround hazy IPAs but some are so good they need an extended run. So, it is again, with this beer originally released as “Fresh March”. As expected, it’s juicy peach and apricot on the nose, which gives way to an underlying floral and herbal pungency followed by a nicely tart citrus bitterness that keeps the sweet flavours in check. This is a fine example of why this style of beer has so captured the imagination of craft beer fans with its long and complex flavour chain.
Sumptuous and floral beer that wants similarly mannered food. From lush seafoods, such as oysters, to lush desserts, such as chocolate mousse. And in between something robust - Nashville-style spicy fried chicken comes to mind.
