Apple and berry crumble cups

This is a good one for all the apple lovers out there. It's a dessert you can make as a gift for your family one evening!

  • 5 apples, diced
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1 lemon
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries or raspberries
  • 1 ½ cups plain flour
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 150g cubed or grated butter

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C bake. Bring a medium saucepan to medium-high heat.
  2. Add apples, honey, zest and juice of the lemon and two tablespoons of water. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until the apple begins to soften. Remove from the heat and stir through the berries.
  3. Divide the mixture evenly amongst 6-8 greased ovenproof ramekins.
  4. In a large bowl combine flour, brown sugar, ginger and butter. Rub the ingredients together with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs. Sprinkle the crumble over the fruit.
  5. Bake for 20-30 minutes or bubbling and golden brown. Serve and enjoy!
Tip: You could also make these cups into a large crumble.
