Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Gold, scored 96 points, Champion Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc

White Wine

Key flavours

Grapefruit, kiwi fruit, melon

Judges Comments:

One of the early success stories of grape growing in Marlborough is the Rose family. Planting their vineyards on the banks of the Wairau River in 1978 heroing Sauvignon Blanc, it’s no surprise that 40 years later this wine has been awarded Champion Sauvignon Blanc. Aromas of green melon and kiwifruit are also in the flavour, along with a suggestion of grapefruit. Like all good Sauvignon Blanc, the acid is electrifying.

Pairing Recommendation:

The refreshing acidity is a terrific complement to Asian inspired dishes, especially Vietnamese and Thai, antipasti and pre dinner nibbles, cheese, chips and dips and pizza or pasta. Also great for a picnic and light lunches.
