All the medal winners of 2023

An independent panel of wine experts swirled, sniffed, sipped, tasted and debated more than 1,200 wines under $25 to find the 50 highest-ranked wines. Find out who won the medals…

The New World Wine Awards was launched in 2003 with the unique objective of finding the best quality affordable and available wines for consumers. A focus on affordable and available wines means every entry must retail for $25 or less and have plenty of stock available for sale – at least 4,000 bottles for popular varieties, or 1,600 bottles for emerging varieties. The Top 50 ranked wines are sold in every liquor-selling New World store nationwide, which is a great result for consumers and the winning wineries.

The wines are judged using the same internationally recognised 100-point system used at other leading wine shows, which benchmarks entries against what a perfect wine should be like. A Gold medal wine in these awards is a superb example of its type and you can hold it to the same standard as a Gold medal wine from other respected awards.

All wines are blind tasted. This means the judges are never aware of any brands or price and never see any bottles. They judged the wine in the glass on the day, knowing only the variety, vintage and country of origin.

All the medal-winning wines from the 2023  competition are shown below. We hope you enjoy browsing the amazing breadth of medal winners and you can also find out more about the Top 50 drops on our Wine Finder.

The Top 50 Gold medal-winning wines are available in all liquor-selling New World stores nationwide until 12 November 2023 or while stocks last. However wines do not have to be stocked in New World stores to be entered into the competition so not all of the medal winners listed below are available at New World stores.

New World Wine Awards Top 50 wines priced under $25 until 12 November 2023. After this time the retail price may vary.

Below are the historic results of the New World Wine Awards judging. Unfortunately results from 2003 to 2007 are not available. The price point has shifted over the years from wine retailing under $20 to under $25, and the volume requirements have adjusted to meet increasing demand from customers seeking out top drops at great prices. However the objective remains the same with customers looking forward to the results announcement each year.

Please join us in celebrating 21 years of the New World Wine Awards and congratulating all of the  winning wineries!
