American crunch slice
An oldie and a goodie and the icing is the perfect finishing touch.

- Slice:
- 2 Tablespoon golden syrup
- 125g butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 tablespoon cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- nuts and fruit if desired
- 1 ½ cups icing sugar
- 1 cup coconut
- 2 teaspoons cocoa
- Icing:
- 65g butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
- A little water
Method
- Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl.
- Melt the golden syrup and butter then pour over the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Press the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 180?c for approximately 15 minutes.
- Cover with the icing when cool.
Icing:
- Combine icing sugar, coconut, cocoa, butter and vanilla essence and heat until boiling
- Let cool a little then spread over slice.
