Classic cheese sauce is a recipe worth knowing. Made with simply 4 ingredients, butter, flour, milk and cheese, you’ll want to keep this one in your recipe book. It’s both tasty and versatile.
Ingredients
50g pure butter
50g plain flour
2 cups Value milk
1 cup grated Colby Cheese
Method
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
Stir in the flour to make a paste.
Gradually pour in the milk, while whisking to ensure no lumps.
Continue to cook the mixture until it thickens.
Remove from the heat and stir through the cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Top tip:
Cheese sauce can be used in so many different ways from a delicious topping over steamed vegetables to an addition to your favourite pasta (mac and cheese is a classic!) or even as a toasted sandwich or burger filler for a unique twist.
