New World’s Family2Family Foodbank Appeal is back and we’re encouraging everyone to come together to help support local foodbanks and City Missions in their community!

New World is also joining by donating $250, 000 to local foodbanks and City Missions! 

From the 8th of April – 5th of May, we’re inviting customers to come in store and fill a bag of foodbank friendly products or donate a pre-filled $20 Family2Family bag. We will take these to City Missions or local foodbanks and together, we can help support families in need through winter.

How to donate

Foodbank-Friendly Pre-Filled Bags

We are selling pre-filled bags in our New World stores and online during the campaign period for $20 each. We have filled each bag with a selection of foodbank-friendly products to make it even easier to donate! Simply buy a bag for $20 and drop off at the collection point in store. (Or if you've purchased online, we will drop it for you!)

Flybuys Points for Good is back!

Flybuys members can donate their Points towards Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch City Mission until the 5 May 2024. Every 25 Points = $5 New World Gift Card. 
What are foodbank-friendly products?

Our local foodbanks desperately need non-perishable products that are typical household essentials. These may be anything from canned goods and spreads, tea and coffee, rice and pasta to non-food products like soap, toothpaste, shampoo and sanitary products. 
 
Look out for foodbank-friendly products highlighted in your local New World. 
Tins of soup, baked beans, spaghetti, fruit and vegetables, soup, kidney beans, mixed beans, chickpeas, tomatoes, pasta sauce. 
Things that make a hearty base of a meal like rice, pasta and noodles are good. 
Breakfast cereal is a great staple and things for the pantry like sugar, flour, tea bags and crackers. 
Hygiene basics are important like soap, toilet paper and tampons.

    New World’s Family2Family campaign aims to support families in the local community!
    We are getting together as a family with our customers, City Missions and local community foodbank partners to help support families in need through winter! 
       
    Next time you’re in New World, fill a Family2Family bag with foodbank friendly items or simply purchase a $20 pre-filled bag to donate. Then just drop your filled bag at any New World and we’ll deliver your donation directly to foodbanks or City Missions.

    New World will be joining in by donating $250,000 to the City Missions and local foodbanks across New Zealand. 
     
    Together, we’ll bring some much-needed relief to more Kiwi families in need. 

     
  • How can I donate?

    Simply pick up a Family2Family paper bag at your local New World and fill it with foodbank-friendly products. Drop the bag at the collection point in store and we’ll deliver your donation directly to a foodbank in the community. 

    We do accept all donations of foodbank-friendly products in any shape or form – reusable bag, boxes or individual products – all donations will be delivered to a foodbank or City Mission in the community.

  • When can I donate?

    The Family2Family Foodbank Appeal begins on Monday 8th of April until Sunday 5th of May. Our local foodbanks are grateful for any support and will of course accept any donations outside of the 2024 Foodbank Appeal.  

  • Which foodbank will receive my donation?

    The Family2Family Foodbank Appeal supports the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch City Missions, as well as regional foodbanks throughout New Zealand. Check the collection point at your local New World to see which foodbank that they will be donating to.

    All New World stores are 100% New Zealand owned and operated. Each store proudly supports charities and groups that reflect their unique local community. Get in touch with your local New World store to see how they're lending a hand to our local communities.

Terms and conditions

  • Terms and conditions

    The Promotion will run from 8 April 2024 to 5 May 2024 (Promotion Period). During the Promotion Period customers can:

    • purchase groceries, place the groceries in an empty Family2Family bag (available at any New World store nationwide (New World Stores)) and leave the bag at the designated location in store; or

    • purchase pre-filled Family2Family bags for $20 (inclusive of GST) instore or online from New World Stores.  Pre-filled bags are stocked with foodbank-friendly products and will have a retail value of $20 or more.  

    At the discretion of each New World Store, the filled Family2Family bags will be taken:

    • from New World Stores located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and be distributed to the relevant city’s City Mission; or

    • from New World Stores (including those located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) and be distributed to a local foodbank as selected by the relevant New World Store. 

    In addition, a $250,000 donation will be paid to the City Missions and to local food banks at the end of the Promotion Period. Foodstuffs North Island Limited, Foodstuffs South Island Limited and New World Stores will, at their discretion and acting reasonably, allocate and distribute the total $250,000 donation across the City Missions and local food banks.
