Judging and Winners

  • Entries will be evaluated against the following criteria: Commercial Potential & Viability, Creativity & Innovation, Scalability & Launch Plan, Category Placement & Current competitors and Sustainability & Environmental & Social Impacts.
  • A shortlist of up to 20 entries will be selected from all eligible entries to go through to the semi-final by the panel selected by Foodstuffs in its sole discretion. Eligible applicants will be advised whether they are on the shortlist during June 2025 and no later than 30 June 2025.
  • To avoid doubt, the entries selected to go through to the semi-final will relate to the one product only on the selected entries. For example, if one supplier submitted two entries (each for a different product) then only the one product notified to that supplier would progress to the semi-final stage.
  • All the semi-finalists will be required to prepare a longer application in the form provided to semi-finalists by Foodstuffs. Each semi-finalist application must relate to one product only. The deadline for this application will be advised at the time the form is provided. All semi-finalists must complete the longer application by the closing date and time advised. Incomplete or late submissions, or entries that do not comply with the requirements in these Terms & Conditions, will not be considered for the final round.
  • From the top semi-finalists, up to 10 finalists will be selected and invited to pitch at the final event, event date and venue to be confirmed. Finalists will be selected by Foodstuffs in its sole discretion. You must be able to attend the final event in person at the venue notified by Foodstuffs. If you are unable to be at the final event in person, Foodstuffs may select another finalist to attend on these terms and conditions. *
  • To avoid doubt, the entries selected to go through to the final will relate to the one product only on the selected entries. For example, if one supplier had two entries selected to go to the semi-finals, then only the one product notified to that supplier would progress to the final stage.
  • The finalists will present their product in a pitch to the judging panel at the final event and will be required to provide samples of their product to the judging panel as part of their pitch. The winners (as outlined below) will be announced on the night at the final event.
  • Finalists are required to fund their own travel costs to and from the final event. Foodstuffs will pay for 2 x nights accommodation per finalist entry** at the Sudima, 18 Airpark Drive, Māngere, Auckland 2022.
  • There will be two winners selected from the finalists, one from each of the following categories:
    • A) Start up category
    • B) Small supplier category
  • The winner of the Start up category will receive the Start up winner prize package. The winner of the small supplier category will receive the small supplier prize package (as detailed below).
  • Winners will be selected at the sole discretion of the judges. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The prize winners and finalists consent to participate in and cooperate as required in all promotional activities relating to Foodstuffs Emerging Supplier Competition.
