Reliable quality makes Hamilton-based (but rapidly growing) Good George a brewery that turns up year after year in these awards. This APA is more malt-rich than many others in this year’s Top 30. It has a deepness to it that begs exploring – and the 946ml squealer is perfect for just that job. Robust bitterness finds a counterpoint in lush, sweet malt with well-integrated stone fruit hop character rising up to deliver a deeply satisfying drop. The judges just loved this “excellent, well-made” beer.
This is quite a bitter, robust pale ale with good malt structure so it will dance nicely with robust foods such as steak and kidney pie or slow-cooked stew.
