Korean inspired BBQ beef

Ingredients

Method

Ingredients

  • ½ apple, peeled and cored
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp mirin
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 400g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 3 spring onion, sliced
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds, toasted

    Method

    1. Blitz the apple, half the onion, garlic, soy sauce, mirin and brown sugar in a blender or with a hand mixer until smooth. Pour the mixture into a large bowl.
    2. Slice the remaining onion and add to the mixture along with the beef, carrots and two spring onions. Stir until well combined, cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
    3. Bring a large grill pan, frying pan or BBQ to high heat. Drizzle or brush with oil and cook the beef for 5 minutes or until cooked through.
    4. Garnish with remaining spring onion and toasted sesame seeds.
    5. Serve and enjoy while hot.

Top tip: Serve this delicious meal with your choice of rice, kimchi, sliced cucumber and crisp lettuce leaves.

Putting your beef sirloin in the freezer for 30 minutes before slicing will help you cut thin pieces that will absorb all that delicious sauce.
