Sesame sriracha and honey beef skewers

Succulently sweet with a touch of spice, these sesame sriracha and honey beef skewers are a delicious meal for the whole whānau. Serve with steaming hot Jasmine rice and garnish with sliced spring onion for a good time. The beef can also be marinated the day before and stored in the fridge, ready for a quick meal the next day!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup sriracha

  • 1 ½ tbsp honey

  • 3 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1kg beef rump steaks, cut into 3 cm cubes

  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the sriracha, honey and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper.

  2. Add the beef and mix well until well combined. Set aside to marinate for 20 minutes.

  3. Thread the marinated beef onto skewers.

  4. Bring a drizzle of oil to high heat in a frying pan or grill pan. Working in batches, cook the skewers for 6-8 minutes or until cooked through, turning often.

  5. Once cooked, set aside to rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds to serve.

Tips:

  • Serve these skewers with a side of blanched Asian greens such as bok choy tossed with oyster sauce.
