Saucy chocolate slow cooker pudding

Serves   8
Prep time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 2 hrs

This chocolate pudding makes for a great dinner party dessert – simply prep as you make dinner and let it gently cook unattended while you enjoy the main course! The other bonus of a slow cooker pudding means the oven can be used for other dishes. We guarantee this will quickly become a family favourite.

Saucy chocolate slow cooker pudding

Ingredients

Method

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pams or Value Milk
  • 2 large Pams Free Range Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Pams Vanilla Essence
  • 3 drops Pams Finest Ginger Spice Extract Drops
  • 2 ¾ cups Pams Self Raising Flour
  • 125g Pams Butter, melted
  • ½ cup Pams Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup Pams White Sugar
  • ½ cup Pams Finest Dark Chocolate Chunks
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup Pams Soft Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cup Pams Cocoa Powder
  • Pams cream, to serve

Method

  1. In a bowl whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla and spice drops.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl sift together the flour, cocoa and white sugar.
  3. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour the milk mixture into the flour along with the melted butter and chocolate chunks. Mix until well combined.
  4. Using a piece of kitchen paper dipped into the melted butter, wipe the base and sides of the slow cooker bowl and set the heat function to high.
  5. Spoon the batter into the slow cooker, smoothing over the surface to give an even layer.
  6. Mix together the boiling water, brown sugar and cocoa. Gently pour the liquid evenly over the pudding batter.
  7. Cover and cook for 2 hours until the pudding feels firm.
  8. Serve with softy whipped Pams Cream and/or ice cream.

Recipe Tips:

  • We suggest using dark chocolate chunks, but you could also use dark chocolate chips or even milk chocolate chunks/chips if they’re all you have on hand.
  • Full cream milk works best in this recipe for the flavour, but if you don’t have this available you can also use lite or skim milk.

FAQs:

  • What should you serve with saucy chocolate pudding?
    • To balance the richness of the pudding, we recommend serving yours with a large dollop of fresh cream or vanilla ice cream. You could also use Greek yoghurt if you’re looking for a slightly healthier option, along with some fresh or frozen berries.
  • Can you cook this in the oven?
    • Yes, it’s possible, but you’d need to adjust the cooking time depending on your oven. This Chocolate upside down pudding is another great option that is created to be baked in the oven.
