Slow cooker bread and butter pudding
Bread and butter pudding is a timeless dessert that’s made even more simple by popping it in the slow cooker. Set and forget, for a low-effort winter pudding to dig into after dinner. Serve this comforting classic with cream or custard, or enjoy the pudding on its own.
- 8 slices of bread, cubed
- ¾ cup sultanas
- 75g butter, melted
- 4 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup caster sugar
- 2 cups milk
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- Place the bread and raisins in a slow cooker.
- Beat together the eggs, butter, sugar and milk, and pour over the bread and raisins.
- Toss to evenly coat the bread with the liquid and sprinkle the ground nutmeg evenly over the top of the pudding.
- Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, or until the pudding has just set and a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Switch out the sultanas for chocolate chips for a chocolate lover's twist.
