Serves   6
Prep time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 3 hrs

Bread and butter pudding is a timeless dessert that’s made even more simple by popping it in the slow cooker. Set and forget, for a low-effort winter pudding to dig into after dinner. Serve this comforting classic with cream or custard, or enjoy the pudding on its own.

Slow Cooker Bread and Butter Pudding

Ingredients

Method

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread, cubed
  • ¾ cup sultanas
  • 75g butter, melted
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

Method

  1. Place the bread and raisins in a slow cooker.
  2. Beat together the eggs, butter, sugar and milk, and pour over the bread and raisins.
  3. Toss to evenly coat the bread with the liquid and sprinkle the ground nutmeg evenly over the top of the pudding.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, or until the pudding has just set and a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Top tip:

Switch out the sultanas for chocolate chips for a chocolate lover's twist.
