One dish baked spaghetti

Quick to assemble with minimal clean-up, this one-dish baked spaghetti makes for the perfect weeknight meal the whole Whānau will enjoy. Finish this wholesome meal with a sprinkle of parmesan and a leafy green salad.

Ingredients

  • 500g spaghetti

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, finely sliced

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 jar (510g) Pams tomato and basil pasta sauce

  • 3 cups water

  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

  • 1 ½ cups grated mozzarella

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C fan bake.

  2. Place the spaghetti in a medium-sized baking dish. Add the olive oil, garlic, onion and Italian seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Use tongs to toss the spaghetti until well coated.

  3. Add the pasta sauce, water and basil and toss to coat the spaghetti with the sauce.

  4. Sprinkle with a layer of mozzarella cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden brown and the pasta is al dente. Serve hot and enjoy.

Top tip: This dish is the perfect way to use up some veggies from the fridge. Try tossing in chopped mushrooms, tomatoes, courgettes, eggplant, spinach or capsicum, and adding it in along with the pasta sauce for an extra veggie boost.
