Cheesy pastry twists

Ingredients

Method

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Pams Flaky Puff Pastry
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten with 1 teaspoon of water
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
Cheese & Paprika
  • ⅓ cup grated tasty cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
Cheese & Pesto
  • ¼ cup Pams Fresh Basil Pesto
  • ⅓ cup grated tasty cheese
Cheesy Cranberry
  • ¼ cup cranberry sauce, plus extra to serve
  • ⅓ cup grated tasty cheese
Feta & Red Pepper
  • 125g Pams Finest Feta, crumbled
  • 100g roasted red peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons chopped basil

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan forced). Place one sheet of pastry on a floured surface and brush with the egg wash. Top with desired fillings.*
  2. Place the remaining pastry sheet on top and press down to seal in the fillings. Cut the pastry into 1cm-wide strips. Working one strip at a time, twist the two ends in opposite directions several times, then transfer the strip to a lined baking tray. Repeat with the remaining strips. Brush each twist with egg wash then sprinkle with parmesan.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Serve with extra cranberry sauce.
*For Cheese & Paprika, sprinkle the pastry with the cheese, then the paprika and cayenne pepper.
*For Cheese & Pesto, spread the pesto evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1cm border along the top and bottom edges. Sprinkle with the cheese.
*For Cheesy Cranberry, spread the cranberry sauce evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1cm border along the top and bottom edges. Sprinkle with the cheese.
*For Feta & Red Pepper, place the feta, peppers, oregano and basil in a bowl and mix to combine. Sprinkle evenly over the pastry.

Tips:

  • Make these twists extra special by sprinkling with sesame seeds or poppy seeds before baking.
  • If you like, you can omit the fillings and simply brush the pastry with egg and sprinkle with grated cheese before twisting and baking.
