Homemade plum jam

Ingredients

Method

Ingredients

  • 8 plums, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups caster sugar
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice

Method

  1. In a large heavy based saucepan over medium heat, combine plums and a quarter cup of water. Bring up to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the plums have mostly softened.
  2. Stir through sugar and lemon juice and simmer for a further 25-30 minutes or until reduced and thickened.
  3. Remove from the heat and leave to cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Carefully transfer the jam into sterilised jars and set aside to cool completely.
  5. Store in a dark place unopened for up to 3 months or in a fridge once opened.
Top tip: If in a pinch, apples can be used instead of plums for a homemade apple jam.
