Judges Comments:

A winery first established by young Spanish emigrant Antony Joseph Vidal in 1905, and now under the direction of winemaker extraordinaire Hugh Crichton, who crafts wines that reflect both the region of Hawke’s Bay and his artisan approach to winemaking. Flavours and smells of fresh peach and limes, with a hint of smoke add to the creamy texture, and the long lasting finish makes this a great match for richer chicken dishes and hot smoked salmon.

Pairing Recommendation:

A super versatile wine that enhances all sorts of foods from the Sunday roast, pot-luck dinners, Mexican dishes, burger and ribs, pizza and pasta, as well as light lunches and of course picnics. Perfect with chips and dips, antipasti, pre-dinner nibbles and cheese.
