Dates and deadlines

Important dates for the 2020 New World Beer & Cider Awards competition.


Tuesday 28 January Entries open
Friday 14 February Entries close at 5pm
Monday 17 February Confirmation of entries, instructions for samples and an invoice for entry fees emailed to entrants.
Friday 28 February Final date for receiving samples and entry fee payment.
Late sample arrangements may be possible – please contact [email protected]
Wednesday 11 & Thursday 12 March Judging takes place at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington
Friday 13 March Judging results confirmed by email.
All medal results are confidential and embargoed – see below for embargo dates.
Suppliers of the Top 30 beers & ciders contacted to confirm their product(s) meet the entry criteria.
Wednesday 18 March Midday deadline for suppliers of the Top 30 beers & ciders to confirm their product(s) meet the entry criteria.
Thursday 19 March Full instructions emailed to suppliers of the Top 30 beers & ciders that meet the entry criteria for inclusion in the four week nationwide promotion.
Friday 3 April For the supplier of each Top 30 product, by this date:
• New suppliers to Foodstuffs must complete the documentation to become a Foodstuffs Approved Supplier.
• The product must be set up either via GS1 ProductFlow or Data eXpress (DEX).
Monday 20 April Medal certificates dispatched by post. This communication will include a pack of 1,000 New World Beer & Cider Awards medal stickers for every Top 30 and Highly Commended product.
Breweries can discuss their Top 30 and Highly Commended wins with New World stores ONLY. THE PUBLIC EMBARGO REMAINS IN PLACE.
Friday 1 May Any Top 30 products imported from overseas must be landed and available in NZ by this date.
w/c 4 May Suppliers of the Top 30 beers and ciders featured in the four week NWBCA promotion but not already stocked in Foodstuffs ambient Distribution Centres (DC) will receive their order and delivery details for stock going into the DC’s. Actual order quantity and delivery date will be confirmed by the relevant Buyer.
Date TBC The public embargo on results is lifted. The date of lifting the public embargo will be confirmed by email from the Competition Director.
