How to join Shop & go
1. Join Club+ first
New World Shop & go is accessed using Club+, so you need to be a Club+ member and use your Club+ card to enjoy Shop & go. Join Club+ here.
2. Register in-store for Shop & go
Once you’re a Club+ member, visit the customer service desk in-store at New World Durham Street, New World Ashburton, New World St Martins, New World Rolleston or New World Three Parks to register for Shop & go. You’ll complete a short registration and provide a photo ID.
3. Scan your Club+ card to get a scanner
To release the handheld Shop & go scanner from the station, scan your Club+ card.
4. Do your shop, scanning and packing as you go
Scan the barcode on each product you want to buy using the scanner, and pack it straight into your reusable bags. You can easily keep track of your spending as a running total of your basket will be displayed as you shop.
5. Pay at a dedicated Shop & go checkout
When you’ve finished shopping, head to one of our dedicated card-only Shop & go checkouts, scan the barcode on the checkout screen and complete your payment as normal.
Service checks
On occasion, your transaction may be selected for a service check. These checks are randomly selected by the system and require a checkout attendant to re-scan a portion or all of your shopping. Don’t worry, this is just to ensure the accuracy of the system and if there are any discrepancies, the attendant will correct your transaction on the spot.

Can anyone use Shop & go?

Why do I need to register before I can use Shop & go?
You’ll need to register for Shop & go so that we can verify your identity and confirm that the personal information you supplied when you joined Club+ is still accurate.
Where can I register for Shop & go?
Once you’ve joined Club+ you can only register for Shop & go in-store at the Customer Services desk or at the Shop & go station at New World Durham Street, New World Ashburton, New World St Martins, New World Rolleston and New World Three Parks - just ask a staff member for assistance.
What do I need to bring to register for Shop & go?
You’ll need a valid form of ID to register, along with your Club+ member email or account number. Please note we will take a copy of your ID as part of the registration process.
What forms of ID are accepted?
A driver’s licence or passport is preferred but we will accept most forms of ID providing it contains your name, date of birth, a photograph and has not expired.
Where can I pick up a Shop & go handheld scanner?
Head to the Shop & go station in-store and follow the prompts on-screen to scan your Club+ card. This will release a scanner (just look for the flashing one!) that you can pick up and use during your shopping trip.
How do I use a Shop & go handheld scanner?
During your shop, simply scan the barcode on the products you wish to buy by pointing the scanner at the barcode and tapping the button on the handle. You’ll need to scan the barcode on each individual product even if you are buying more than one of the same item.
Can I pack my groceries into my shopping bags after I scan them?
Yes, Shop & go is designed for you to pack your groceries as you shop, so there’s no need to unload or pack at the checkouts.
How do I know if I have scanned everything properly?
As you scan your groceries, they will be added to your digital trolley on the handheld. You can scroll through your trolley at any time during your shop to review the scanned items. If you’re still unsure whether something has scanned correctly, just let the checkout attendant know at the Shop & go checkouts and they will be able to help.
What should I do if the Shop & go scanner stops working during my shop?
In the unlikely event that there’s a problem with your scanner, you’ll need to either ask a staff member to assist you with rebooting or replacing the scanner, or alternatively carry on with your shopping and re-scan your groceries at the checkout as normal.
What happens if I haven’t brought my own bags with me?
You can purchase re-useable bags in-store before you start your shop. Simply scan the barcode on the bags or on the price ticket to add them to your transaction.
How do I remove an item that I scanned earlier in my shop?
If you no longer wish to buy a product, simply tap the item on the screen and change the quantity to zero to delete it from your digital trolley.
How do I scan or weigh loose items like fruit and veg?
If the product has a shelf barcode, simply scan the barcode for each item that you are buying. If there is no shelf barcode, you will need to weigh your items at one of our special weigh scales and print a barcode. Then, simply attach the barcode to your products and scan it to add the items to your digital trolley.
Can I track my spending as I shop?
Yes, you can! As you scan your groceries, a running total of your transaction will be displayed on-screen so you can see exactly how much you are spending at any time.
Can I still buy items with an age restriction?
Yes, if an ID check is required this will take place at the Shop & go checkout as normal.
How do I pay with Shop & go?
When you’ve finished shopping, head to one of our dedicated card-only Shop & go checkouts, scan the barcode on the checkout screen to transfer your digital trolley to the checkout and complete your payment as normal.
If you are buying any products with an age restriction, an ID check will be performed as normal by the checkout attendant prior to payment.
Can I pay using cash?
No, our dedicated Shop & go checkouts are card only. If you wish to pay with cash, you will not be able to use Shop & go.
What happens if the checkout screen says that I need a service check?
From time to time, your transaction may be selected for a service check. If this happens, the checkout attendant will need to re-scan a portion of your shopping. If this flags that any items haven’t scanned correctly, then they will need to re-scan your full shop.
What happens if I refuse to complete a service check?
Service checks are an integral part of Shop & go to ensure the accuracy of the system and honesty of customers. If you do not wish to complete a service check, you will need to go through a standard checkout and have your shopping scanned as normal by a checkout attendant.
Shop’nGo Terms and Conditions

1. Membership
1.1 Shop’nGo (“Shop’nGo”) is operated by Foodstuffs (N.Z.) Limited (“Foodstuffs”).
1.2 (a) PAK’n SAVE: SHOP’nGO is currently available at all PAK’nSAVE South Island stores.
(b) New World: Shop & go is only available at selected New World South Island stores:
New World Durham Street
New World Ashburton
New World St Martins
New World Rolleston
New World Three Parks
1.3 SHOP’n GO is only available to registered members of Club+. If you are not a member of the Club+ programme, you will first need to join before you can apply to use SHOP’n GO.
Club+ membership is free. You can join Club+ by:
- Completing the online registration at clubplus.co.nz;
- Following the prompts on the Club+ app; or
- Calling 0800 80 70 70 and one of our Customer Services team will help you join.
By signing up to Club+, you agree to the associated Club+ terms and conditions.
1.4 Before you can use Shop’nGo you must also apply in-store by completing a short registration process with a PAK’nSAVE or New World (as applicable) store staff member and presenting a valid form of photo I.D., being driver’s licence, passport, or other I.D. provided that it contains your name, date of birth, a photograph and has not expired. Membership and usage of Shop’nGo is free of charge.
1.5 Foodstuffs reserves the right in its sole discretion to decline an application for Shop’nGo at any time and is not required to provide a reason for doing so.
2. Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
2.1 These Terms and Conditions (together with any amendments from time to time) govern Shop’nGo. Registering to use Shop’nGo or your use of the service will be deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
2.2 Foodstuffs reserves the right to amend the Shop’nGo Terms and Conditions, at any time. Your use of Shop’nGo following any changes to the Terms and Conditions will be deemed acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
2.3 Foodstuffs also reserves the right to withdraw Shop’nGo at any time without notice.
2.4 Foodstuffs may for any reason suspend or cancel your registration to use Shop’nGo immediately at our reasonable discretion or if you breach any of your obligations under these Terms and Conditions.
3. Usage
3.1 To use Shop’nGo, you must first check in at the Shop’nGo station in-store by using your Club+ digital or physical card before starting your shop.
3.2 To start shopping, scan your Club+ digital or physical card at the Shop’nGo station to release a scanner.
3.3 You cannot use Shop’nGo by scanning another person’s Club+ card even if that person is a member of your family or household. We reserve the right to request to see photo I.D. to confirm both your identity and Shop’nGo membership at any time during your shop.
3.4 You can only use one Shop’nGo scanner to complete one shopping transaction at a time during your shopping trip. If you wish to complete multiple, separate transactions you will need to complete your first transaction in full before commencing any subsequent transactions.
3.5 All grocery items must be scanned before being put into your shopping trolley. If you are buying more than one of the same item, you must scan each product individually. You may only use one trolley or basket during your shop and not share it with anyone else.
3.6 For loose products, you must either scan the shelf barcode (if there is one) or use the weigh scales located in the Produce and Bulk Foods areas to print out a barcode, attach it to the product and scan it as normal.
3.7 Age-restricted products (e.g. alcohol) may be scanned and added to your trolley. When you get to the checkout of a participating New World or PAK’nSAVE store, a staff member will be alerted to come and approve any age-restricted products.
3.8 You agree to advise the checkout attendant of any items which, for whatever reason, have not been scanned while using Shop’nGo so they can be scanned and added to your transaction at the end of the shop.
3.9 Your shopping transaction may be selected for a service check which will involve re-scanning a proportion or all of your groceries for accuracy. If there is a difference in price between your scan and the re-scanned items, then the prices for the re-scanned items will take precedence and be included in the transaction total. As part of this process, you also agree the store staff member may look in any bag or bags you have with you to ensure all groceries are included in the re-scanning process.
3.10 You may also request at any time for the contents of your shopping trolley to be re-scanned in full in the event that you think a pricing error has been made.
3.11 Payment is made at the designated Shop’nGo checkout. There are no cash payments available. You agree to pay the total shown on the checkout screen at the end of your transaction or following a re-scan from a service check as appropriate. After you have paid, you agree to put the scanner in the collection box or hand to a SHOPn’GO team member.
3.12 You agree to use Shop’nGo with reasonable care, and not to cause damage or loss to the Shop’nGo scanners.
3.13 Foodstuffs reserves the right to refer the matter to the Police if it considers that misuse of Shop’nGo has taken place.
4. Privacy
4.1 Foodstuffs through its related companies, Foodstuffs South Island Limited and Foodstuffs North Island Limited, collects and holds personal information in accordance with its obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 (Privacy Act).
4.2 By using Shop’nGo, you agree to Foodstuffs:
- Collecting information about you, including registration details and your identification details, information about how you use Shop’nGo, your purchases, and any other information that you give Foodstuffs;
- Collecting from you, during the course of you using Shop’nGo, information that is not personal information at the time of collection (Non-identifiable Information), for example payment card information. However, by choosing to register to use any of the Services, you agree that we may combine the Non-identifiable Information with your personal information that we collect, or that is otherwise held by Foodstuffs, its partners or service providers, in a manner that will change the nature of the Non-identifiable Information such that it becomes personal information. You agree that we may use this Non-identifiable Information in accordance with this clause;
- Using your information to manage and improve Shop’nGo, check and confirm your identity and Club+ membership, and prevent or detect crime;
- Using your information to build up a profile based on the accuracy of any service checks that have been carried out. As part of fraud prevention, your profile score together with random sequencing and unexpected behaviour whilst shopping (for example a high number of unrecognized barcodes being scanned) will be used by the system to calculate the frequency of service checks and to review your ability to continue using Shop’nGo;
- Sharing your information with a participating South Island PAK’nSAVE or New World store which provides Shop’nGo so they can operate the service and to assist with fraud prevention;
- contact you (or allow a participating South Island PAK’nSAVE or New World store staff member to contact you) in relation to store transactions where you have used Shop’nGo; or
- Undertake data analytics, insights or data mining (including the anonymisation or aggregation of your personal information with other data) to identify patterns and trends and use the full benefit of that analysis. 4.3 Under the Privacy Act you have the right of access to and correction of personal information and can do this by updating your existing member account at clubplus.co.nz or by calling 0800 80 70 70.
5. Governing law and disputes
5.1 Shop’nGo is governed by New Zealand law. If we have any issues which need to be resolved by a Court, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand Courts.
6. General
6.1 Foodstuffs is not liable for any delay with registering you for Shop’nGo, or any system outages that prevent you from using Shop’nGo.
