Dessert hot cross buns
This is the ultimate in hot cross bun indulgence. Picture fresh warm buns, topped with vanilla ice cream, doused in salted caramel and crowned with chopped pistachios. Make them, make them now!
- 4 hot cross buns (the fresher the better)
- vanilla ice cream
- salted caramel (I used store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons pistachio nuts, roughly chopped
Preheat the oven to 90°C.
Place your hot cross buns on a tray and heat until nice and warm.
Remove from the oven and cut a small cone shape out of the top of each bun.
Put each bun on a serving plate, tuck a big scoop of vanilla ice cream into the hole on top, pour over salted caramel, sprinkle over pistachios and you’re ready to indulge.
