This unique brewery is based on a farm owned by James and Elissa Cooper in Taupo. James Cooper wanted an alternative revenue to farming lambs so taught himself to brew. The brewery’s rustic setting – including using bore water for all the beers – belies the class of the beer on offer. With its distinctive “Hairy Man” logo and bold sense of fun, the brewery has developed something of a cult following over its short life to date. That looks set to grow with this Top 30 IPA. Lots of lush tropical fruit and berry notes coupled with a bracing bitterness that cradles your entire palate. “Great IPA,” said the judges, “lovely lingering hops.”
A beer brewed on a farm wants down to earth Kiwi fare. Perfect with a mince pies, sausage rolls and best of all, a Kiwi burger with egg and beetroot.
