Boneface The Darkness India Stout
What to expect:
Chocolate orange, coffee and berries
Boneface Brewing are based in Upper Hutt’s Brew Town where they create consistently excellent and boundary-pushing styles. This American-style hoppy stout is no exception – an absolutely pitch-perfect blend of dark malts and zesty hops. Intensely black to look at it in the glass, the aroma is all milk chocolate and fresh coffee. But once you taste it the hops start their charge, beginning with an earthy blackberry, brambly note before opening towards orange zest and grapefruit. The typical ashy-roasty notes of a stout are held in check to allow the hops to continue their forward march towards a cleansing bitterness and leaving you with a hint of chocolate orange.

This bold stout will handle most foods in the same way as a rich red wine like shiraz. Go steak and pepper sauce to get the spicy interplay with the hops.
