Burkes #Fakenews Hazy IPA
What to expect:
Lake Tekapo's finest. Lush and creamy.
Burke’s Brewing is based in the Blue Lake Eatery & Bar at Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie Basin, making it the most remotely, and beautifully, located brewery of the Top 30. It’s named for founder Seb Burke – not for the nearby Burke’s Pass. The brewery focuses tightly on its geographical region, but is starting to spread further afield by getting their beer brewed at Beer Baroness in Christchurch. This hazy IPA nails the requisite stone fruit and tropical fruit flavours and delivers layers of creamy texture. The judges loved the great balance and easy-drinkability, proclaiming it a “very, very nice beer”.

Creamy and fruity, this beer can keep pace with all sorts of food, but it's a lovely contrast to a robust dry curry like beef rendang.
