The work ethic at Behemoth is unquestionable – they churn out more than one new beer a week on average. Mostly hazy IPAs. Every now and then a one-off becomes so popular – and successful – it jumps across to a core range product. Me Time Mosaic (Mosaic is a hop variety) was the champion IPA at the New Zealand Beer Awards last year and is proving so popular it’s gone into 6-packs. Easy to see why when you smell the huge, sweet tropical fruit juice aromas. That’s countered by just enough astringency and bitterness to create a tight balance. As one of the judges noted: “I would be very happy if I’d bought that”.
Big flavours want big food, so think blue cheese, smoked salmon, anything with soy, ginger or garlic...it would love to get tangled up with some Malaysian-style noodles such as Mee Goreng.
